I always chuckle a bit when I hear about the girl friend or wife who just doesn't understand. My first wife really didn’t understand. Unfortunately that was the least of our differences.
I can say that wife no. 2 really does understand. That is just one of the things that attracted me to her. When my first Saab, a 1984 900T with 242,000 miles was totaled by a drunk in a 4X4, I grieved for weeks. She understood and just let me vent. Then she told me to go order a new Saab. She just forgives my obsessing over car upgrades and maintenance.
Her daily driver is a 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider. She likes that fact that Saabs and Alfas are not seen on every street corner. Our big discussion lately has been whether to replace the Alfa with the pending Saab 2 seater due in 2003 or so, or the new Alfa Spider due in 2004, unfortunately the new 2002 Maserati Roadster is a bit spendy at $65,000. Such are the dilemmas with an understanding significant other. Just in case you think I spend all my time in the garage, we also season tickets to the ballet and theater. And we both love to travel, especially by car.
So let's hear it for the ladies! Especially the ones that understand us demented Saab owners (or are one themselves).
