Machiavelli said in his book "The Prince" something that I think holds true even today. He said something along the lines of this: Men always work in their own best interest. You may kill or take property from somebody else, but as long as you work for them, they are entirely yours. The world is too interconnected and therefore symbiotic to survive without Western society. We make China rich, and while we don't necessarily make the Arabs rich, without our food donations and aid packages they would have even less than they do now, which is a testament to these fun loving fundementalist governments who want to better humanity by doing what? Starving their people. In the end, this whole terrorism deal will be exposed for what it is: a quest for individual power by some crazies who are using religion to further their own purposes. Some of them have latched onto legitimate problems in the Arab world as pitching points to gain new recruits. This is where we will make the difference, by nullifying these problems and providing these crazies with no new dedicated soldiers. There will always be crazy people. Hopefully in the future there won't be a good reason to follow these nutbags, that's where we come in.
