Let's see...going down hill, engine turning high revs, closed throttle which means you are also cutting off the oil supply - SIEZED ENGINE!!
Saab included freewheeling on its 96 models (and even the earliest 99's) to avoid this condition, but you could override it with a lever. With the freewheeling, you could shift without using the clutch.
