Well written!! At the 2000 SOC an owner of an older Saab scoffed at my car and spoke (under her breath) "Damn, Chevy!" as she walked by my NG900. Where does the animocity come from? Is it because my trans. gears are not made from glass? Is it because my pinion bearings don't whine?
As the owner of a '68 96 until very recently, I appreciate the classics. But when I need to be assured of my most precious cargo (my family) arriving w/o an interruption in their trip. Only a late model car can assure that, without me personally investing countless hours of my weekend on old-car maintenance.
Had GM not saved Saab, we'd be no better off than the U.S. Peugeot or Alfa owners. And with Lutz steering GM's product, Saab has a chance of shaking off that "quirky" badging and strengthening it's market-share to <don't say it!!!> Audi or Volvo proportions by actually bringing concept cars to market. And isn't that what we all want? A company that will be there for us when we HAVE to buy a new car??
