OK, let's take my original message again and parse it:
"I'm a lawyer."
True.
"I don't pay speeding tickets because they result in insurance rate increases (you don't think the insurance companies buy radar & laser guns for the cops out of the goodness of their hearts?)."
Also true. I pay fines for other offenses.
"I have a good friend who is a defense attorney and has relationships with the prosecutors in all the local jurisdictions."
True, and nothing illegal about that.
"If I get a ticket I call him, he get the prosecutor to turn it into a non-moving violation or outright dismiss it, and my friend gets a nice bottle of booze."
Note: MY FRIEND GETS A NICE BOTTLE OF BOOZE - not the prosecutor. It's a gift to MY FRIEND in appreciation of a favor done for me. To elaborate on the plea bargain - you aren't a lawyer (are you?) so you don't really know how plea bargains work. This isn't a misdemeanor or felony here, it's strictly an offense. The prosecutor has discretion as to whether and how to prosecute, and if he/she wants to dispose of a case by bargaining it down to a non-moving violation (for which I still have to pay a fine plus court costs) by golly that's his/her right.
"In your case, find a good lawyer who has relationships with the prosecutors and be prepared to pay a few hundred $$."
I still think this is good bottom line advice.
I disagree that I "used very poor judgenent in describing how you would go about trying to fight a ticket." I may have cut quite a few corners off the description, but the bottom line of what I said is accurate.
I will no longer respond to these personal attacks. I come to this forum for advice and amusement, not to be flamed for what I do for a living.
