Hi,

Today, I went out for some auto-luge up in Marin county. This was the
first chance I had to try out my newly rotated tires.

My stock 9-5 is quite literally Clark Kent. You would not know it
from its business-like appearance, but it is quite the canyon carver.

Today, despite it being a weekend, route 1 in California north of
San Francisco was clear of traffic. I was dusting the odd Fiero,
Siebring ... all the misguided Detroit offerings ... nothing to get
excited about. I even saw a flaming wreck of a Dodge Neon. I guess
kids put turbo engines in those things but don't know that they should
stick to the highways and stay off of twisty roads (joke).

Well, I quickly came upon a late model M3. I got close to him and
matched him move for move and acceleration for acceleration. This was
one of the more exciting drives I've had in my life! I wasn't looking
at the speedometer, but we were going FAST. My 9-5 handled like
it was on rails. I don't even bother braking before turns anymore, unless
it's one of those hair-pin turns. Added to the enjoyment was the fact
that Munich's best could not shake me.

The M3 driver either got sick of not being able to shake me or got
scared of my bumping into him. So, he took a turn-out and didn't even
look in my direction to see my wave (the kind that BMW drivers never
give).

After I had passed him, he slid up behind me, and just as I looked in
my rear-view mirror, I guess he caught a glimpse of my badges. He had
the most hideously contorted expression of horror, shame and disgust on
his face. It looked for a moment that his sun-glasses had an
ill-conceived set of appendages sticking straight up from either lens.
On close inspection, his eyes were in such contorted painful expression
that his eye-brows were sticking straight up and appearing to stick
out of the sunglasses.

I guess he was expecting to see "Aero", but instead he saw "2.3t".
He just got dusted by an automobile which can be had for HALF what he
payed for his M3! LOL

That was fun. That's a memory I will treasure.

thanks

Jae
