Hi Jae,

Marin County has some of the best roads for such hijinks!! I have to say though, having driven fast cars (including M3's), the new Aero and others are so freakishly capable - that I have to set up special rules for myself to stop from "playing" at triple digit speeds. I make my lane "mentally" much narrower - or - if I touch the lane stripe - I'm disqualified - or all of my shifts have to be heel-and-toe - or something. Otherwise, stuff is happening too fast for those around me.. Unless I can see the apex of the turn and beyond - into the next turn - I don't want to be at 9/10's of my ability. My dear friend and mentor was struck from behind under such conditions ... it flipped his car over and his poor dog was flung out the sunroof!! All survived to tell the tale. But he removed his VR1 - smashed it too bits and has been a much different motorist since that adventure! I went ass-over-tea kettle in my brand new Datsun 280Z in 1976 under similar conditions (1300 miles on the odometer). I was punished by the car gods and had to drive a rental Datsun B210 (with an automatic tranny and a whopping 65) hp for the two months it took to fix the car.

Oh well....We want are dear friends on the Saab board to live to tell about their adventures ... So remember - the next time you engage me on the twisties... I have some special rules that I play by - I'd rather be passed by a Yugo than have another bone set in my body!

Merry Christmas to all of us frustrated road racers!
Eric
