I saw a post here last night and chuckled to myself about this- someone said that "buying/wearing Saab apparel will help the brand." I understand where this sentiment may come from, but I question why people feel it is their duty to buy overpriced apparel with "Saab" written across the front of it to support the brand. I'm not saying Saab doesn't care about its enthusiasts, but I am saying that it cares about the mass market more (otherwise, the new 9-3 would still be a hatch!)
Saab is a business, not a crusade. There is much more money to be made oustide of the enthusiast crowd. Porsche sees the same thing- Cayennes are all sold out for this year (but I agree with pundits that sales will take a dramatic downturn in years 3 and 4).
Saab is among the most incredible "woulda shoulda coulda" business stories of the past 30 years- it should be taught as a case study in business courses.
