Tuareg is going to be a nice car and Saaztek won's sell. Who on earth would put 30-35 grand for Buick-based Saab SUV? Traditional Saab buyers - maybe few; traditional Buick clientelle is better of with Buick - Saab name means nothing to them especially considering heftier tag; competition cross-shoppers would not choose that 10MPG (ok, 15 with T8) monster ofer Honda-like SUV... Porshe did not just licensed Pathfinder and put a turbo in, there is more to it. I almost can't beleive Debra does not understand this.
Look at VW for example - from every brand they purchase, they take something good. Audi for example - they retained their engines - some of them are still unique, they kept Quattro (even fitted it to VWs)instead of fitting haldex to audi, they saw that Audi's platform is better and used it, etc. GM, on the opposite, fits own cheap engeneering everywhere they can, trying to run on a combination of [not yet extinguished] brand appeal and pricing. Now it turns out that VW also can sell brazilian-built mexican-engine Jettas for over $20K, and GM does not have much room... Those guys are bright, and the only powerful side of american management style (ruthlessness) is playing against us.
