Lock de-icer is OK in a pinch, but...

eventually, all of your lock lubrication will be dissolved by the de-icer. Once you've got 'er open, take a trip to the local Canadian Tire (or equivalent store) and pick up a can of lock-ease. That's a graphite lubricant that'll keep your locks workin' good- even when its cold out. Have a rag handy to wipe off the extra bit that oozes out after you spray it into your lock, wipe off your key too!
