I had a 86 GLi which I also owned in HS. Fun car which greatly benifited from front/rear stress bars however the chassis was still on the weak side. Obviously mine was the 8v version which was very underpowered :o( Although when I would race our 86 900s, the cars were identical in acceleration!
Unfortunantly my car fell apart at 125K miles & I was very happy to let it go. I replaced it with a 87 SPG which was parted out last year. Now have a 88 SPG which I will always keep.
