In late 1997 my wife and I had both purchased Chrysler products. Mine was a 1998 Dodge 1/2 ton four wheel drive with the 360 V8. Hers was a 1997 Dodge Stratus with 14,000 miles.
Both vehicles were driven sensibly and her head gasket blew at 24,000 miles and my transmission failed at 40,000.
When Chrysler had a 7/70 powertrain warranty I figured a guy couldn't go wrong buying one. I also figured that after that warranty deal slipped aside to the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty the drive trains were pretty solid. Then I soon realized that if they would've kept the 7/70 they would have lost their a***s in warranty claims so the 3/36 took the place of the 7/70.
Why put these large power plants that suck fuel, such as the Cummins Turbo and the HEMI, in front of a tranny that isn't fit for a lawn tractor?
That whole deal really left a sour taste in my mouth:~{
