What is the repair estimate? How many miles on the Saab? Is everything else that is non-critical (cosmetics, etc.) on the Saab in good shape? How much is being asked foo each of the other cars?
I'm facing the same choice -- in my case, it's pay $2500 to replace the tranny and clutch on an '87 900 base model with about 200K miles (blue booking at about $950), or find something else.
I haven't decided, but the biggest decision is this:
Do you spend the repairs to get a well running Saab that you have owned and of which you know the repair history (with the risk that you might have to spend more as he miles increase), or do you drop the cash on another car that may or may not be in good mechanical shape?
You're looking at 3 high-mileage cars. If the costs work out to be the same -- i.e., you can spend the same amount to repair the Saab as you would to buy (and fix up, as needed) the other cars -- I say go with the Saab. Even if the repair costs are a little higher, I say go with the Saab because those extra costs buy you the securityy of knowing the repair history of the car.
