So are you completely discounting Amsoil's filter change recommendation?
Or are you discounting the benefits of filters all together?
And how are you defining the statement, "... a quaility filter should outlast your oil"? Do you mean that it simply stays together? Or that it continues to filter down to a pre-determined (by either you or the filter maker) particulate size for 25k miles? Or ... ?
Also, I think if you look at some current UOAs on various synthetic oils, you'll find many examples of viscosty degradation in non-contaminating, water-cooled, turbocharged gasoline engines. Allowable shear rate is even specified in the ACEA classifications, so I think it's a definite concern in extended drain (10k mile & beyond) applications.
