Ground clearance quickly becomes a limiting factor, I once had a Honda Passport and it had close to 12" of ground clearance, low range 4 wheel drive and non slip rear end, torsion bar and leaf springs.
But the Wrangler is pretty much in a class all by itself - short wheelbase, ample ground clearance, big knobby tires and you can equip with a drive train that each wheel can put power to the ground independent of the others, probably standard on the Rubicon.
