Real world expectations on used BMW,Audi or Volvo

Hi all,
I've been saabless for 3 years now, therapy is going well, but really do miss my old 9-3 wagon; manual even more so.
In that time, I leased an Acura TLX. Nice car, but not really a fun car. Now, Acura has been turned in, and I'm looking to go used with either a Volvo V60, Audi Allroad, or BMW wagon, or the GT. The BMW GT is the best candidate, as I love the hatch, like the driving and its the only car with a really good back seat (kid still in car seat).
So, for a 3 or 4 year old car with 50k, is there a really big worry for maintenance costs? How much worse than taking care of saabs?
Lots of articles comparing the above, but starting from new. Need to know more about the used expectations.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
