Hello Roger,
That's an interesting story and reminds us of the pitfalls of internet car buying.
But funny enough I am performing a major service on a 348 spider this week and the timing belt is the reason for the multiple major services with those miles. I did the service on this car 6 years ago and sometime between 5 and 7 years is usually accepted safe for timing belts. The car only has 13k miles on it. Good Luck, Bernie
