I didn't realize the timing belt life is affected more by years than miles. But then tires are the same way with both being rubber, and a blown tire is usually far less damaging than a broken timing belt.

Interestingly, my wife wasn't opposed to the idea! After 40 years she obviously knows the difference between a dream of mine and a possible real action.
