Yes, electric cars are overpriced Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Tue, 24 Dec 2019 12:46:51 In Reply to: Electric cars are overpriced?, Jim Matthews [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 23 Dec 2019 05:27:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The most inexpensive gasoline-powered car is more flexible, convenient, and potentially longer-lived than the most expensive electric when the cost of battery replacement down the road is considered.
Bear in mind my 9000 delivered 300,000 miles before requiring major mechanical work. (Had I not found the junkyard trans I would have simply bought another old Saab for a few grand.) I do not care for Tesla or Musk for a number of reasons and would not buy anything from them.
Sorry, I just don't see any reason to move to electric power given the current state of the art. Let me know when Mr. Fusion becomes a reality, or when I can buy a fully-functional electric competitive with gasoline power that is 15-20 years old for a few thousand bucks, and perhaps I'll reconsider.
