Both of my Saabs have found new homes. I agree with your observations. I have a plug in Prius. It too goes 25-30 miles on EV before switching to hybrid. It does well on the highway if I drive at reasonable speeds. Averages mid 50's MPG. The thing that I don't like about the car is the lack of luggage space. I can fold down the rear seats for extra room if there is nobody else traveling with us. Also I wanted to make a change to a full EV.
That said I pre-ordered the BMW I4. It is an EV with an advertised 300 mile range for the base model. The majority of my trips are less than 200 miles and the places we stay have charging stations nearby. I do have a level 2 charging station in my garage so home charging is easy. We have a BMW 430i Convertible which we loves and the I4 looks very similar as far as interior controls. It appears to have good luggage space as well. I suspect the dealer will be contacting me soon for options and color. I am expecting it late spring to early summer next year. There are some very good federal tax incentives and rebates from the state of Massachusetts.
