Hello to my long lost SAAB friends. After SAAB bit the dust, I was too leary of expensive parts and repairs, so I went to Audi. I see a lot of interest in electric cars, with some of you buying a Tesla. I have had a Leaf for nearly a decade. It is a good car around town, but by being on the cutting edge back then, it suffers compared to the latest and greatest vehicles available now.
I would encourage anyone looking for an electric car to take a hard look at the Volkswagen ID4 or if you are loaded, buy an Audi e-tron. I went from my 2 9-5's to 2 A4 Audi's. My electric car is getting too old, so I think eventually a new one is in order. The Mini electric looks good as a second vehicle, if you don't like SUV's. Hybrids are also making inroads. My A3 e-tron gives me 25 or 30 miles in town all electric, then the gas engine fires up. On a recent trip of 815 miles, I averaged 43 mpg going 69 mph. On this car, as well as my Leaf, the cost is considerably cheaper to run on electric, than pay $5.09 for gasoline here in CA. My electric cost $1.81 for a full recharge at a ChargePoint station, I got a free charge in Needles, on my way to AZ. Anyone seriously considering an electric car? I can give you my nickel on the grass, if you ask. I'd say don't believe the hype, talk to an owner.
