I think the numbness is probably a combination of the soft springs and struts in your car, combined with the steering system. I notice on my 93SE the car dips and raises a little when turning, giving me an almost floating feeling, which I would equate to the numbness you speak of.
Im my 944 the suspension is so stiff there is no dipping of the front end when turning, even really hard turns. All the feeling of the turn is transmitted. You turn, the car responds, no delay or loosness. In fact event the seats hug you and you don't slide or feel the centrifugal force at all.
The down side to a stiff suspension...your lower back takes a beating on trips longer than 1 hour. The upside is the blast of driving on curvy mountain road.
The 944 is fun to drive around town, but the Saab is 10 times better on a roadtrip.
IMHO, Jim
