Volvo V70 vs Subaru Outback/Forrester Posted by Rod [Email] (#3128) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rod) on Tue, 6 Feb 2007 14:44:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted this earlier but it didn't go through so I'll try again.
I am still looking for a replacement for my aging Volvo 240 wagon as a second/winter car. I had narrowed it down to a 940 or 850/v70 but now I am wondering about Subarus. I have mixed feelings about the Outback's image - everywhere I go for outdoorsy type activities they are the vehicle of choice (last weekend I was XC skiing in Ontario and out of the 17 vehicles in the parking lot, there were 8 Outbacks and 1 Forrester). So if I had one I would be one more among many and part of my attraction to Saabs is their rarity (at least in Ohio).
But that aside, how do they compare to the Volvos? I've ridden in an Outback as a passenger and discovered there's not a lot of room in the back seats (generally I'll be in the front so who cares right?), and the doors didn't have that satisfying "clunk" that Volvos and Saabs have.
My main concerns are reliability, ease of DIY maintenance, driving experience and cargo capacity (for those trips to Lowes).
Thanks
Rod
