... You are comparing 2 distinctly different cars that serve the same purpose. I think the Subie is well built and a great runner with a great price, but think it falls short from being a drivers car. And I can name at least 10 folks I know who have an outback or forester.
After owning several C900's and a getting a taste of the turbo world... I will always buy a turbo if its offered in the model I'm considering. And after owning a Viggen for a few years was spoiled with those seats. My compromise now is a '98 V70 XC with 100k miles which so far has been a great vehicle for the $7k I paid for it last year. I was willing to soak up some expense on repairs if it needed but its been a nice vehicle so far. These have an light pressure turbo and fall just shy of Saab's comfort level.
After knowing what I could get for the money, not one of my Subaru friends could convince me into owning one. The Volvo is still easy enough to work on and parts are not too bad....couple of big ones to watch out for, but has been very similar to owning my saabs.
Anyway... I like how the Swedes think. Safety, comfort and practical...just wish it got as good a gas mileage as the Saabs.
