absolutely... you have to do what's right for you... I didn't mean to criticize - just wanted to point out that parts are still available where you seemed to be having difficulty finding something that matched the 9-3's capability... fwiw, also my parents take a 9-5 to a rural non-Saab indy who is fantastic but has limited access to parts - they just ask what he needs, place the order for him on eeuro + bring him the parts... he even rebuilt our engine one vacation when we burnt a valve! did a great job even though he'd never had a c900 engine apart before... afaik he's only worked on 3 saabs, all from our family ;-)...
wrt to the small cars noted, I really like the looks of the A3. C30 may or may not be your cup of tea, but it is (surprisingly) closer in size to A3 than the Mini:
9-3 A3 C30 Mini
Length" 180.9 168.9 167.4 146.6
Track" 57.2 59.3 60.3 57.4
lbs 3130 3219 3201 2668
trunk 21.7 19.5 15 6
folded 46 39 33 23.3
A3 is probably closest to the 9-3 overall...
anyway here's a link to a c30/mini comparison review...
good luck!
James...
