They might be thinking of older cars pre 2003. Nothing wrong about that but when you are dealing with internet savvy people you better have your facts straight or be a damn good salesman in coverups.
95 to roughly 99-2000 it was 70K miles on the belt, then 99-2003 it was 105 depending on what engine and emission system but it could also be 120 and 150 in 2003 alone.
Then in 2004 they went to 120 and 150K miles depending on engine and emission system.
Funny thing is that it is the same belt used from 99 and up.
With the 99-2003 I see a lot of dry cracks in the belts after about 5-6 years and have replaced many with 60K miles and up warning that it could be bad to try to make it to 105.
2004 and up seems to have a better belt and it might go the full 10 years or 120-150K.
