Well, the paint and one rocker/sill were as advertised. What wasn't mentioned was:
- The clutch is worn to the point of the car barely being able to self perambulate, and not really being drivable on a public road - or able to drive onto a tow dolly or trailer under its own power.
- Four new oddball switches have been screwed onto or into the dash. Push button for horn, toggle for turn signals, toggle for wipers, and one for which the owner did not know the function. Original turn signal and wiper stalk are still mounted to the steering column.
- The failed fuel pump has been supplemented (not replaced!) with what the owner described as an electronic fuel pump. This pump produces a deafening staccato noise in the cabin as it pressurizes the fuel system and then shuts off when the pressure set point is reached. Seems wrong to me. The pump should run continuously and silently.
- Electrical system has been half re-wired to add four new fuses to the driver's side fender beneath the hood. LOTS of extra stranded wire snaking under the fan shroud to connect to the original fuse block (which still remains in use) and the wiring harness.
- The exhaust reeks of the acrid funky smell that I always associate with a worn out engine. Maybe it signifies worn valves, maybe nearly rancid fuel.
- A huge dent behind the driver's side rear wheel that crumpled the entire rear fender portion which extends beneath the trunk floor.
Sigh...... Even the initial apparent bargain price of $3K is too much in my view.
