Paying for repairs is almost always cheaper than payments. It becomes a hassle when the car becomes unreliable, or when it spends more time in the shop than out. I would have both cars down to a trusted mechanic, have him do a once over on both cars, see if there is anything he recommends doing. then just drive. Take the $ you would spend on payments and plop them into an account that you can pay for repairs out of, and save up for a new car in a few more years. if you bought the odyssey new, she could drive it another 2-3 years almost trouble free, and save up the $4-500/ month payments. 450x12x2 = $10800 that's a LOT of repairs, and a healthy down payment on a new car.
