don't forget about the 10yr/100k mile warranty . So what Hyundai does is make cars that are seemingly and to a good many a better value than competing brands - they put a lot of popular features in the cars but they don't quite measure up in some aspects like handling, steering feel, fuel economy and maybe performance - but they come close enough that for the money it's a solid value. Engine wise they make some pretty good power plants. I think their 8 speed box maybe ZF designed. The V8 was on Wards 10 best engines a few years back.
But if you care about the status/cachet factor that is not what driving a Hyundai is about.
I bought a Sante Fe with the 2.0T - it's decent enough but has a couple of rough spots, very nice interior and comfortable to travel in - more so than my 2004 9-5 - Hyundai is much quieter and insulated from road noise and climate control system much better.
