about how a "sure thing" can go off the rails. In '01 BMW came out with a new M3 and it was hot. There were waiting lists and cars were going for $5K over the sticker price. My brother had gotten us on the waiting list early so we had a convertible coming for the dealership. The idea was to flip it for $5k over or what ever we could get. So we took delivery the first week of September 2001. So 9-11 happens and everyone sits on their hands--no one was buying anything let alone sports cars. So we sat on it for six months as I recall and eventually sold it for a $3k loss--and we were glad to get it. The moral of the story is that when it comes to selling cars, no matter what you have or what you think you have, there's just no telling how it'll go. There'd be nothing wrong with buying something like that Ferrari as long as you can afford to have it not go well. It would probably be fun and who knows, you could turn a buck on it. Just don't COUNT on it.
