to keep fluid from running out of the lines if you have calipers or clutch slave off that just keeping the pedal slightly depressed will keep the fluid from running out as the cup travels past the hole from the resivuar.(a clutch pedal you can push to the floor & it should stay there & fluid wont run out)
every time I do a brake job I suck out all the fluid in the master & add clean before you pump the pedal a few times to get the pads against the rotors so that its pulling in fresh fluid :-) fluid atracts moisture which lowers the boiling point of the fluid & keeping it clean will prolong the life of all your hydraulic components as well as help brake performance
