How much boost for a non-modified engine?..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 24 Apr 2006 07:48:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I own a 2000 9-5 with the low pressure turbo and no engine mods. I purchased and installed a Forge brand rebuildable diaphragm style BPV last November to replace the throw-away Bosch valve. I installed the valve with the weakest spring (Green, 5 to 15psi) since I have no engine mods.
I just replaced the first diaphragm last week due to multiple tears and a CEL, but even with a new diaphragm I am hearing what I believe is excessive release of turbo pressure.
Is it safe to install the next stiffer spring (Yellow, 15 to 23psi) on a non-modified engine with 168,000 miles? Is this an appropriate action? The valve came with spare diaphragms and the range of springs, but no spacers which I see are now included with Forge's spring kit.
Thanks,
