You learn something new every day. Thanks. Still bothers me that unfiltered oil is pumped throughout the engine under any circumstances. Granted, the oil before and after a filter under most conditions is exactly the same, but there's things like metal particles and gunk that can cause havoc with those small oil passages and bearing surfaces. Ask me how I know - aka dead engine experience. There's more to this story I need to know. Anyone know specifics about this bypass feature? Bore me with the details.
