I'll make some guesses here that there are differences between the engines NASCAR uses and those we have in our turbocharged SAABs. The bearing specs are probably tighter, the oil flow channels are larger and balanced, the oil pressure is higher - all to ensure the same amount of oil makes it to all the various bearing points under the same pressure to ensure optimum friction reduction and cooling capacity. They're also probably designed for the use of a synthetic oil under intense racing conditions. In a stock engine with performance enhancements at twice the HP rating than it was designed for, any oil flow imbalance and "looser" bearing specs has got to add up to a hot spot and eventual failure when a synthetic oil can't provide adequate friction reduction or cooling.
