I have have had a modified Tranny in My Aero for about 8 years that is almost identical to the cobalt modd described below.
I changed the final drive to the 4.05:1 using gears from other Saab models and installed it along with a Quaife LSD. The only difference is the 2nd to 3rd gearchange is a little closer.
My Viggen box was also modified with a Quaife LSD and a lower fifth gear from a 9000. This box has the exact same ratios and final drive as the Cobalt ss unit.
This is the way these trans should have been built from the start.
