Hey Vigge!.......

I was just wondering if you had driven your Viggen with the GT3071 before porting the wastegate? Noticeable difference? I had every intention of doing this a few weeks ago but I was pressed for time and had to reassemble it back to stock to make it to the S.O.C.
My biggest concern is with compressor surge. I have PLENTY of power(maybe too much?) even with the wastegate housing stock, but I sometimes have poor boost control. When giving throttle early, there can be a lot of compressor surge, I have to modulate the throttle carefully. I think the problem may be the AIC (idle) valve motor bleeding open but I also know that the internal wastegate is of a very poor design on this turbo and should definitely be ported. Did you (or do you)experience surge before or after porting the exhaust housing? I would like to eliminate this little quirk on an otherwise perfect set-up. The car is my 95' 2.3 9000,OBD1, Maptun IC, Siemens 630cc injectors, 3bar map sensor, etc.. basically, all of the required hardware with a very straight, free flowing 3" intake. I didn't want to port the head, but I will if it will eliminate compressor surge. Any thoughts? Thanks Olli!
