DIY vacuum advance modification Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Sun, 17 Dec 2006 09:58:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have found a good explanation of the vacuum advance modification:
http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/performance/index.html?bID=100991.
I was hoping someone might have a picture of the what component of the capsule that gets modified that they might be able to post. I just finished installing a rebuilt distributor in my 900 and am going to take apart the old one to modify the old capsule as a test. What confuses me is the post above notes taking the capsule out of the distributor for the modification.
I notice that there is a 3/16 inch diam (measured inside the capsule)stop for the lever on the body of the capsule that is easily accessible with the capsule on the distributor; theres about a 1/8 inch diam hole for that stop that you can access on the side of the capsule with it all bolted onto the distributor. Is this what gets modified (or is it something deeper that I can't see until I take the distributor apart and remove the capsule? Seems like it would be easy enough to bend this stop by inserting a narrow centerpunch into the outer hole and bending it up or down.
Anyway a little carification would be much appreciated. Thanks.
