The stop is a stub/post. You'll see how the arm settles against it at rest. The mod I did for my odd combination of 82 CIS fueled, 16V w/ 2.1 head and fmic was to drill out that plug and put a bolt and nut combo in it's place. I think I used 12 mm bolt. The bolt head is ground down and angled in such a way as to provide a wide range of distances that can be set for the arm to travel before hitting the new stop point. As a modification, it's a fairly crude way to increase timing retard during max boost. Without addressing necessary increased fuel to the boost equation, all you're really doing is risking harm for a few more psi. For additional fuel during boost, I have the old style warm up regulator that includes a boost port to increase fuel flow at high psi. With all that, I don't really ask of my car a whole lot. I'm really selective when it comes to pushing the limit. I want to continue driving, not replacing engines, trannys and drive train components.
