Question for Jak, re: Vac Advance Mod Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Mon, 18 Dec 2006 10:47:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Per discussion below, I've been reading your past posts on this topic (admit I've only scanned 900 of your total of 3,700 and something total posts). In one of them, you noted that the stock range of the capsule was 5-6 degrees and total range of the Vacuum advance capsule was about 10 degrees.
If our goal is to get static timing from 16 to 21 degrees to increase off-boost performance, and the capsule maxes out at 10 degrees, why not simply remove the stop entirely. I read Kevin K's excellent work on the twinsaab's site and he recommends disabling the stop when using the MSD-BTM .
I note that you achieved the increased 5 degrees by bending the stop back and doubling the gap (right?). Did you take it further and have to tweak it back to get 5 degrees? I am going to guess that you need the stop or the maximum retard doesn't stop at a reliable point (in Kevin K.'s discussion, I assume the BTM would do the work). Anyway, I'd appreciate some clarification if you don't mind revisiting this topic (yet again). Thanks.
