From what I've read an MSD-BTM is definately in my future at some point. Just not now. My question was more theoretical. Seems like moving the stop even slightly tends to max out the range of the capsule, from what I've read. What I'm looking for at the moment is a cheap mod that will allow me to advance my timing to improve my off-boost performance and moderate the somewhat severe turbo lag I experience. I have a 1990T vert autobox and pulling into traffic from a dead stop is shear torture.
I've already adjusted the APC Pots top the point that the knock sensor is kicking in. Some time this week, I should receive a 3.0 FPR and that should help there. Eventually, I want to get Jak to build me a 3-inch downpipe, and later a header if that makes any sense for a moderately goosed engine. I'm not looking to take it to far - -say 200-200 HP (not interested in blowing up the autobox.
I view the turbo lag in the automatic (with 1st gear being roughly like starting in 2nd of the manual) as the most serious draw back to overall driving pleasure. Therfore, once I use up all the low cost to no cost mods I've found here (stll need to doctor the APC box), the next logiocal step will be an MSD-BTM, followed by larger exhaust (unless of course, I've got it backwards and want exhaust then BTM, but that's another question for the brain trust here).
