what i have to say, I'll increase the granularity of my response. While i concur that "perhaps" he should be given a break, everyones predilection for ignoring the data presented and spinning it to there own views is ntl interesting, and I see nothing in his posts to indicate that he has earned a break, yet,...at least from those of us who DO understand vehicle technology.

1)"I Posted a message earlier this week regarding my NEED for more performance"

And why is this?? Is your new saab such a dog?? Or a totally useless choice?? First you say your parents bought it then you say it is your choice. why choose such an unacceptable car then....? and why do you NEED performance...did you not in fact state that your parents were concerned as to your state of mind in regards to presenting your personality via inappropriate driving behaviour?? As i said....it appears they understand you better than you understand yourself.

2)"My vehicle is a 2000 Saab 9-3, automatic (biggest downfall), before you laugh"
why would we laugh at a perfectly acceptable car??? I love an automatic. coffee cup in one hand, window down, point and drive

3)"please realize that my parents bought me this car (i'm only 18, senior in high school)"

Lest you all think i do not believe children should be given things...We handed the keys to a new car to our daughter...2000 alero..185 n/a horses in a 3.4 liter reliable pushrod engine. we also handed the keys to a new house to our daughter so that she would have a proper place to live while going to college. And our 11 year son will be given the same opportunities.. simply because they understand that it is done with great sacrifice and love and they treat the privilege accordingly. Your post
is as though my daughter said..." my parents bought me a house to live in and the front window does not open wide enough...can anyone help me find how to use a hammer to break it??"

4)"they thought a 5 speed would encourage me to speed"
gee...where would they ever get that idea....unless maybe.....

5)" My quest for more performance is going slowly"
no offense but for a guy who self states his brilliance via DECA "vehicles and petroleum" it would appear to me that in fact have not a clue regarding the vehicles part at least. And while i appreciate your compliments....brilliance is not required to be smarter than internal combustion engines.

6)"checked out a few websites but there seem to be a lack of 9-3 parts. I am mainly finding 900 parts""
WROOONNNNGGGGG. a simple google search for +saab +performance pops Swedish dynamics to the front of the queue...their first offerings?? 9-3 perf parts. Hellllloooooo...

7) "I want to match the 9-3 SE and be close to Viggen in performance."
uhhh....why not just nick your dad for another 5k and drop it off at a shop...certainly he would not think you immature for finding his purchase unacceptable based merely on your quest to have a faster car than the one he procured for you at age 18. after all you don't drive fast ....hmmm... at this point your statements have taken such a divergence that one would wonder what is that you are even saying or if you even see how your points clash. I was under the impression that DECA would involve cohesive representation of ideas....

8)"All i have now is eye pleasure, Xenon bulbs, turbo euro plates, 20% deep tint all windows, and brushed alluminium trim on the way."
no prob...to each his own..personally i think that deep tint just ends looking like sh** in a year or so and looks every other punk ricer hanging crap off his mirror and driving like a fool. but you are free to identify with who you wish. Of course itreduces your ability to have clear vision at dusk.....but hey....you are a smart driver so you do not need to see well....and with viggen performance what does it matter what you see. Everyone knows that all real performance cars come with deeply tinted windows.

9)" These don't help at all with speed"
gee...and you wonder why it comes off as though you are irresponsible....what...you can't already
break the speed limit?? Need to race someone at school perhaps?? I know you won't put it on a track..saabs are horrible race cars in most categories except rallye and ice racing... so enough of the SCCA blarney already. but you are in fine company as a lot of the board involves people's street racing exploits followed by protestations of their responsible behaviour....I build engines (and have for 30 years) because they are fun, not because they suddenly elevate my personality to one of coolness. but then i am an engineer type so i can't assume that others share the same passion for the controlled mayhem that goes on in an internal combustion device as the dead dinosaurs are tranformed into heat and motion.

10)"this is where you guys come in"
i see...so now it is OUR responsibility to assist you in countermanding your parents decisions??? As a parent myself if that happened i would simply retune it to produce about 120 hp until you understand the role that they play in your life, failing that, i'd reprocure a car that can be destroyed cheaply until you showed maturity in things mechanical.

11) "Is a computer the way to go?"
Earth to chris earth to chris....I thought you studied vehicles....

12)"Suggestions"
put a real nice stereo in it, sit back, relax, drive, enjoy, rise above who you are and be who you are not.

13 "Lots of help needed "
wrongggg....there is no task to be performed by us...it is not our duty to help you dishonour your parent's decisions but some will anyway. If you had said "hey guys...i'm flipping burgers to pay for this nice car and have some money left over etc...." maybe then you would have gotten a response the first time...you did notice the lack of response it appears since your pitiful mewlings showed up twice.

you want speed mods? involve your parents....it is their money and time you are trifling with. when I was 18 i had no problem modifying engines and had been rebuilding and hopping them up for 3 years already. under the tutalage of my father in fact. cars are simple....air + Fuel + fire. if you are as smart as you claim go study up and learn how they work. Then present your dad with your findings and justify it to him since he is the one still paying the bills it appears.

and for those of you wondering WTF???? I am not bitter....nor fat...nor single but i am pretty GD direct. But....asking us to help him act out against his parents will always get a response from me...as i AM a parent, and a damn good one.
