It pretty much comes out the dipstick and not the other vent areas. You can elininate the mess by wrapping a shop rag around the dipstick lip. I even put two gaskets in the dipstick to increase pressure, I drove probably 500 miles or like this before opening up engine.
The crack was in the piston land and combustion air would come through the piston crack into the inside of the piston. The crack was almost impossible to notice until I took the rings off the piston. This was on my 99 Viggen.
