Not sure what you mean by na or custom one, but on the 9k, you can drill some holes in the air-box and put a sport stock size K&N filter in there.
I am about stage 4 range, maybe 300bhp range and I just went to a large conical air filter from K&N and lost the air-box. My large conical air filter uses the entire fender well as its air-box and it breaths nice and the sound is nice too, much more intake and turbo noises. Then I put a Jt 3" dp on it and I have a 2.5" cat back on it now. I then put the Extremeturbosystems.com 9k ic on the car and Nick's 2.5" delivery pipe with larger silcone elbow.
So I have done what I suggest, intake improved, better dp and a larger better ic. I then matched the extra air with the sw from Jak to add some more fuel and boost. That is a good match, better air in, better air out, and the ic to cool the air and then the sw to take advantage of those hw upgrades :-)
