Upgraded with larger turbo on classic 900T LH 2.4 along with the red T-5 injectors installed... When under full boost at upper rpms, mostly in first, second and slightly in third gear, my boost abruptly stops. Usually happens in first 1/3-1/2 red on boost gauge. The wastegate is adjusted for about 15psi before it opens. Doesn't happen much in forth and never in fifth gear, but then again in FIFTH I'd have to be going VERY fast to get into high rpms and full boost... No audible knock, boost just craps out. Not the usual peak and then tapper, it just sounds like a loud phfffffffff sound with quick loss of power and I immediately push the clutch in as the noise scares me along with the loss in power symptom. A second later with boost back down everything is fine again. It is boost specific not rpm related, as I can reach max rpms any gear w/out issues as long as boost isn't over 15psi or so. Doesn't feel like fuel cut where the fuel pump shuts off and you smack the windshield either, though maybe the feel of fuel cut is different in different cars? Could it be engine related, bad rings and lost compression or some other type pressure leak at high rpms and full boost? what are symptoms of bad rings? No vaccum leaks or hoses flying off when this happens either, that would be simple fix. No fluids in wierd places so that's a good sign. What type of performance loss would I notice with worn or damaged rings, would the engine be performing differently from drive to drive? My symptoms are basically the same day to day, always happensabout same rpm and boost levels. What about if pistons are damaged, what symptoms while driving? The redtop T-5 injectors supposedly have plenty of fuel delivery. Could the stock fuel pump be bad or perhaps too small to deliver proper fuel when most needed at upper rpms and full boost at 20psi? Maybe instead, problem due to it's too rich at WOT, not lean, maybe it's choking the cylinders instead??? Can't figure out. I've got an AID set properly, base timing 20 degrees btdc and under full boost it's 10 degrees. Need to solve this with you guy's helpful info about where the issue is, fueling, or engine related... Big mystery to me.
