I think this would ultimately reduce the flow of oil to the turbocharger, but maybe it would work. When my turbocharger failed recently I talked to a guy at East of Sweden, I think his name was Tim. This guy told me the number four rod bearing on our engines has a tendency to slowly wear away leaving fine metallic particles in the oil that do not get stopped by the oil filter. These particles eventually get lodged in the turbocharger's bearings and cause rapid failure. I don't know if this is what caused my turbocharger to fail because I had just changed the oil by the time I talked to him, but I was told that if the oil is drained into a clean black pan, allowed to settle for a day or so, then slowly poured out, you should be able to see these particles in the bottom of the pan if this is happening. He also said if you pull the bearing caps off the rods, you'll see an obvious difference in the appearance of the number four bearing. I'll be checking my oil the next time it gets changed. Maybe this is worth investigating for you.
