Simon, you always have level-headed posts! I have always asked, over decades, about all these "sludge cleaners" (from cheap to expensive) as they came out when I'd go to the different mechanics and autoparts stores, and besides trying to "upsale" me for expensive formulas, when they leveled with me mostly they said it's a shot in the dark, could help, but only alittle, or worse, cause the little globuals of sludge INSIDE the engine, in different areas the oil gets into to actually cause them to breakdown into smaller globuals making more of a mess inside and potentially spreading the sludging issue. That's what I've always heard, and so I never put these things in my oil. Others, please feel free to disregard my statements and try your luck with them. But, let us know if/how they work.
