Angled O2 Sensor Adapter Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 18 Dec 2010 08:30:34 In Reply to: Code P0420 and Anti-Foulers, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 17 Dec 2010 11:03:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I purchased one of the angled O2 sensor adapters from this source to eliminate the P0420 code that recently started appearing. This should prevent future instances of this CEL code alarming, and will be useful if I choose/need to install a second Cat in the trailing straight pipe section of my down-pipe. There isn't much room in the exhaust hump formed in the car's bottom pan for a sensor to jut 90 degress from the exhaust pipe, this will allow the sensor to parallel the path of the pipe.
Although with this adapter in place the sensor will still be prevented from monitoring the direct exhaust stream exiting the second Cat. But at least the car's emissions system will be functioning fully legal in cold temps and easy driving conditions - something it is not currently capable of doing.
