You might need to elaborate more because what you said doesn't necessarily hold any relevance to piston strength. The forging process strain-hardens metal, but makes it more brittle, ie. less tough, in the process. Because both forged and cast pistons can fall at different places between ductility and brittleness, it would not be a stretch of the imagination at all for the forged piston to end up being more brittle than a cast one (yes, even though cast is considered somewhat brittle, depending on its alloys and grain structure). That being said, a tougher (more ductile) part can endure much more deformation before breaking, than a STRONGER, yet more brittle part. So testing until failure like that may not be the litmus test for a good piston. I ask people what they would use for trailer hitch connections, grade 5 or grade 8, and pretty much all say grade 8... however grade 5 is the standard because it is less likely to suffer a catastrophic failure, but instead let you notice that it has been strained and needs to be replaced. Different scenario than the piston debate, but shows that ultimate strength, and toughness have their own specific places.
