From what I know, the turbo itself provides plenty of back pressure and the rest is getting the exhaust gasses out of the system. On a Porsche turbo the exhaust is big and on race cars just dumps it out as soon as possible. If noise reduction is needed then you do something to break up the SOUND WAVES, not the flow.
In normally aspirated cars you need to tune to the back pressure, and a little is need to keep the charge in the engine.
