contolling the pressure to the wastegate actuator to open/close the wastegate. With a Trionic engine management system (like that in your Aero)
it is called a BPC. It is mounted on the radiator.
The manual boost controllers essentially disable the Trionic boost control
system. Since the Trinic system controls boost, ignition timing and fuel
delivery a manual controller disables 1/3 of the system. A safer way, but
much more expensive, to increase power is to use an upgraded ECU. An
upgraded ECU retains all the Trionic's function.
The manual controller does not bleed off boost, rather interrupts the vacuum
signal to the wastegate actuator, allowing the wastegate to stay shut until
higher boost-pressures are attained.
Did you ever get your over-boost problem fixed?
